Pimp My Pack:
The last of my backpack accessories, I feel that any more will just encourage me to add more weight.
Although my Mardingtop 50+5L backpack has stretch side pockets on each side, these pockets are quite deep, and I think I would struggle to access my water bottle without stopping to take off my backpack. To this end, I have attached a water bottle pouch to the webbing on my belt. The bottle in the photo is my 750 ml bottle, however, I would generally be carrying a 500ml bottle with additional water in one of the side pockets plus my Sawyer Mini Water Filter.
While researching backpacks I was tempted to buy the Osprey Atmos AG 50 Litre Rucksack, mainly because of its adjustable anti-gravity™ trampoline suspended mesh back system, however, it is heavier than the Mardingtop 50 litre pack and I prefer the style of the more traditional military packs I was used to in my younger days. Another factor was that I am able to customise the Mardingtop 50L pack to best serve my needs, personalise it so to speak. In total, my backpack with the three main accessories attached now weighs 200g more than the Osprey Atmos 50L
