I've Bought An E-Bike: Ado A20+ My First Impressions (Part 1)

 My apologies for the poor audio quality in parts of this video, it was an extremely windy day.

Well, after 18 months of indecision, I have finally taken the plunge and bought myself an e-bike. I have spent many hours over the past year checking specifications and watching YouTube reviews on bikes. The bikes I was researching were the Ado A20+, Fildo D4s, and the Himo Z20.  I eventually chose the ADO A20+

In this video, I am just sharing my thoughts on the functionality of the bike and running through a few of the more important settings, plus showing a few of the accessories I have added so far. There are plenty of excellent videos on YouTube showing the unboxing and specifications of the A20 and A20+ so I have just cut to the point, and I am giving my opinion on the bike.

My only gripe so far is the power/battery lock position on the underside of the frame., I suppose if they located it on the top or side, there could be waterproofing issues. It is really fiddly, and you end up on your knees feeling for the hole half the time. I suppose, in time, I will get used to it.

Part 2: ADO A20+ ROAD & HILL TEST.

• Pedal-assist top speeds in all three levels with a load of 95 kg (15 stone),

DAWAY C99 Bike Seat

I really could not get along with the stock seat, so I swapped it for this memory foam seat. At the time of writing this post, I have only ridden about 3 miles with this seat fitted, but it is a vast improvement over the stock seat. 

Thick wide high-density memory foam, the bike saddle cushion surface is a non-slip wear-resistant texture PVC leather.  The size of this seat is 10.6 x 8.7 inches.

Front Bike Handlebar Bag (Waterproof)

This bag is fitted to my 20 cm extension bar, via two velcro straps.  The bag is also secured at the bottom to my 10 cm bar by another velcro strap.

A nice little bag which I intend to use on days out to house my DJI Pocket 2, my DJI Osmo Action,, gorilla pod, and spare batteries

The dimensions of this bag are, 28.7 x 16.4 x 16.2 cm. The capacity is 3.5 litres.

Grefay Bike Phone Mount.

Another addition was to upgrade the phone mound supplied with the bike. This is proving to be a very good phone mount, it is sturdy and does not rattle about. 

Quick-release bicycle, motorcycle mobile phone holder. Lock or open the quick switch to install and uninstall the phone. It only takes a second, and one-handed.

360 ° rotation, 15 ° tilt, and elevation angle adjustment. You can freely adjust the phone mount according to your perfect viewing angle (horizontal, vertical). The holder does not block the camera lenses so it is possible to take photos or record video while on the move.

Lxweimi Bike Handlebar Extenders

Bike Handlebar Extenders add extra space to your bike, to add bike lights, speedometers, GPS devices, smartphone mounts, etc. These bike handlebar extenders are made of Carbon Fibre material, which is very lightweight.

As any ebike owner knows, space to mount accessories on the front bar is very limited. My Ado A20+ only had enough room to mount one accessory to the left of the gear shifter. To this end, I decide to invest in a set of carbon fibre Handlebar Extenders.

There are two bars in this set, one is 20 cm x  22.2 mm, the other is 10 cm x  22.2 mm.

The clamps will fit front bars from 22 mm to 33 mm, although I found the longer of the two bars awkward and difficult to fit on my front bar, it does fit on.

I mainly purchased these bars to accommodate a front bag, also to attach my tent when out bikepacking. The smaller bar is attached to the larger one and will be angled down to secure bags and to prevent damage to my cables.

Lxweimi Bike Handlebar Extenders

G Keni Smart Rear Bike Tail Light.

Not my most exciting video, however, I  thought I would make a video showing the main functions of this light as the instruction booklet is so small I was struggling to read it.

This is not a full review, it is a basic tutorial as only time will tell whether this light is reliable, robust, and practical. 

 

The G Keni bike alarm tail light with smart brake sensor detects when you are braking or slowing down and applies the brake light, ipx65 waterproof, designed with 115 db radio speakers for greater outdoor penetration. Also, the battery is 800mah. 

WARNING: The seat post mount is only 1" (25.4 mm) in diameter (ø) and may not fit some seat posts. 

I have just purchased a Dece Oasis Ado A20+ 20" folding electric bike. I intend to use this e-bike for running errands, for off-road rural trips, and hopefully some lightweight bike camping.

Bike Modifications & Accessories For My Ado A20+ (Post 1)

The first accessory I purchased was my frame bag, this bag is used to hold my tool kit, repair accessories, and my phone. With the battery located in the frame, it was necessary to source a saddle-type bag. I have a phone holder fitted to the front bar but in heavy rain, my phone will be put in the phone case. This frame bag fits perfectly on my Ado A20+ frame.
