A day trip to the Kent coastal towns of Whitstable and Tankerton. This is the first time I have used my senior rail card, and the first train journey (of more than one stop) in 15 years. Although this is a relatively short video by my standard, I clocked up 10 miles on this trip out.
Whitstable:
Whitstable is like no other town by the sea. Its traditional charms, rich maritime history and strong arts culture complement the modern town. Part of the Canterbury District, Whitstable's main claim to fame is its oysters, which remain an intrinsic part of this sea town's character and are celebrated every July at the Oyster Festival.
Tankerton:
Tankerton is a suburb of Whitstable in Kent in south-east England. It was designed in the late 19th century as the train network brought holidaymakers to the sea. It gives its name to a ward of Canterbury City Council.
