Of recent many of the rivers are far shallower than they should be for the time of the year and I have found that crouching down and leaning over and down to lift the kayak out at canoe platform is putting unnecessary strain on my lower back.
Both my kayaks weight 18 kg which in itself is not unduly heavy, however, when you lift an object with bad posture, the muscles in your back become inhibited and do not work correctly. This causes a greater load to be placed through the bones, ligaments and discs in your spine which may lead to injury. To this end, I searched online for days to find what I believe is a suitable addition to my kayak kit to help me lift and secure my crafts.

And so, enter my new kayak Accessory, the WYCY Boat Dock/Mooring Line. This mooring line is four feet long with a stretchy 16 mm bungee cord covered by a nylon weaved fabric. The line stretches from 120 cm's (4 feet) to 170 cm's (5 ft 6”). The line has a ring and slider at each end so it can be easily connected to a boat/kayak dock or anchor.

I have tried and tested this line on my Itiwit 3 kayak and have found that the extra 20 cm's (8”) of rigid cord at each end and the foam handle makes it must easier to lift the kayak out of the water without risk of injuring my lower back. I have found this mooring line so useful that I now have a set in red for my Glider 2+1 drop stitch kayak.
