After a very wet and windy night pitched up at Sallochy Campsite on the east shores of Loch Lomond, I decided to get out for a forest walk. This walk took in part of the Sollochy Forest Trail, along with a short section of the West Highland Way, and was approximately 11 km (7 miles).
Sallochy Campsite
Sallochy Campsite is situated on the Eastern shores of Loch Lomond and offers stunning views across the loch towards the Arrochar Alps. The small beach is a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the scenery and the 200-year-old oak woodland is a peaceful place to stroll and spot some local wildlife.
The campsite has basic facilities to give you a 'wilder' camping experience. Composting toilets and drinking water are available, but there are no showers on-site.
The site is ideal for families, walkers, and those wanting to experience a short outdoor break in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.
Sallochy is a great resting place after a long day of walking on the West Highland Way and an idyllic setting to enjoy a picnic or barbecue by the water.
