Resting my knees today before Thursday and Friday's 12-hour shifts. I have a busy week next week what with work and personal chores, so no outings planned at all. I am also currently working on my van in preparation for its MOT. Furthermore, I am having the cam belt and water pump replaced, all new brakes, and a new clutch fitted. Seriously thinking of turning my Peugeot Partner into a micro camper now. I may ditch the roof tent idea, and get out on some micro camper adventures!
So, as I said, today I have been resting up, however, I have bought some new kit. Let's go through the new kit, and why I bought it.
1: YONGZHAO SUP Shoulder Carrier Strap Soft Kayak Storage Sling.
If you have viewed my AquaTec Ottawa Pro review (first impressions) video, you will know that the Ottawa Pro does not have any side carry handles. Now, although I can carry the kayak by gripping under the cockpit walls, it is still quite awkward, especially if carrying some distance. I am hoping that this sling, which also has paddle attachments, will displace the kayak's weight and free up my hand to carry other equipment.
2: ANENG A3009 Mini Digital Multimeter, Portable Pen Type Intelligent Multimeter.
You can blame #Mickoutdoors for this one 🤣
Once again, referring to a previous video. My Hiqmar E-Fin does not have a battery level indicator fitted, however, it is possible to check the battery status via the 2-pin charging port. I already own a Fluke 113 Handheld Digital Multimeter which I used when I was an engineer, however, I consider this to be too large and cumbersome to carry when out on the paddle. Although I cannot access the battery while out on the water, this slim pen-style multimeter with an audio read-out function will be ideal for checking my battery level when ashore. As it is so compact, I will have other uses for it as well.
3: XUXIAKE Kayak Paddle with Carbon Fibre Shaft and Nylon Blade, Adjustable 230-250 cm
Simply put, lighter than my existing paddles, and a 250cm paddle suits my style of paddle stroke.
So, a few more quid spent, I look forward to trying out these pieces of kit in the near future and sharing my views on them on YouTube.
Love and peace to you all, Dave 😉 👍
