Over the past couple of days, I have been listing a few places I wish to visit and video from now until the end of January 2024. I have a few 12-hour work shifts before Christmas, but I want to get one coastal visit recorded next week.
With work in mind, I have decided to visit the seaside fishing town of Hastings to record an informal documentary-style video on either the 20th or 21st of December.
Being that Hastings is just across the border of Kent in East Sussex approximately 47.5 miles from my home, this is a seaside town that I have visited hundreds of times over the past 40+ years.
The interesting thing about making documentary-style videos is how little I know of the history of areas I often frequent. I have spent at least 12 hours researching and taking notes on the history of Hastings over the past few days, yet I will probably only use 30% of my new and existing knowledge of the area in the video!
Photo: This is me powering up the east cliff at Hastings 40 years ago, at the tender age of 26. Happy days.
To hopefully keep this video interesting for the viewer, I will not make a titanic-length film of it, but for me the extra knowledge gained by doing this research is priceless. Furthermore, by recording and producing this type of video, I get to showcase and immerse myself in the beautiful landscape and places of interest that surround me and get to exercise and soak up the fresh air.

Confining trips to Kent and East Sussex coastal towns and places of interest for a month or so, these are a few of my planned destinations:
