West Country Walks & Tours

The photo is of a 53-year-old me sitting at the cliff edge at the Valley of the Rock back in 2010 😄

I am just back from North Devon after a few relaxing days reflecting on life. Although my wife passed away many years ago, March is always a difficult month for me as every year I relive each day of the last month of her life.  The fact is that within one or two days of this anniversary, I completely snap out of it and plough on. There was no filming on this trip, although I did some recces and research for my next trip to Devon in a few weeks.  I have already booked another 5 days in Combe Martin for the end of the month, and I will be visiting several locations and filming some of my walks on this trip. Some of these walks are only a few miles, however, the scenery along the North Devon coastline is absolutely stunning.

When my videos from this trip are edited and produced, I will upload them to YouTube in a new playlist titled West Country Walks & Tours.

What have I got planned for this trip?

Baggy Point Circular Walk (4.5 miles)

The impressive headland at Croyde, with crashing waves and dramatic cliffs.

A Tour of Combe Martin.

4 miles east of Ilfracombe, Combe Martin is a small seaside resort with a sheltered cove on the northwest edge of the Exmoor National Park.

A Visit to Ilfracombe.

A pretty fishing harbour surrounded by towering cliffs, it provides beautiful coastal scenery for walkers and cyclists.

Lynton, Lynmouth, and the Valley of the Rocks.

The picturesque twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth are in the middle of the rugged Exmoor coastline. Pretty Lynmouth provides a romantic escape from modern living with its rows of charming fishing cottages and shops that cluster around the pretty harbour of gently bobbing boats. Lynton perched high above is a vibrant Victorian village, retaining a quaint mix of times present and times past.

The Valley of the Rocks

This fascinating valley is a U-shaped dry valley parallel to the sea about ½ mile to the west of Lynton.
